Please help with Pepsi Grants for Conneaut Lake Park!

Hello,

The PEPSIREFRESHPROJECT is back!

Just a short while ago Park Restoration was almost successful in winning a $50K grant that would have refreshed the entire Midway of Conneaut Lake Park.
We ended 18th in the country out of over a 1000 entries...not too bad...many thanks for all of your support!
This time, friends of Conneaut Lake Park, the Trustees and Park Restoration have four huge projects in mind that could be instrumental in getting the Park back on it's feet.

~ How about a fresh new Hotel Conneaut Exterior and Veranda?
~ or a newly refreshed FreeAct Lawn Pavilion and Entertainment area on the beach Lakeside?
~ Think of a Dreamland Pavilion and dance floor to bring back the big bands that made the Ballroom so memorable?
~ and how about Refreshed Midway area to allow for the creation of a Artisan Mall?

How to Vote:

It's simple.  Go to www.refresheverything.com  and register.
...and then vote and vote everyday during the month of May.
Votes accumulate over the month so it is important to keep voting daily.

You can vote for up to 10 projects daily ...or should we say our 4 projects!
Pepsi added a new twist - "POWER VOTING".
Specially marked Pepsi products have a code that gives you up to 100 extra votes!
If you enjoy a good Pepsi product, those extra votes could be huge.

To simplify voting, just click on the links below and you'll be ready to vote.
Or go to www.refresheverything.com and search for "Conneaut".

Your votes got the Blue Streak back in operation in 2010.
...and they can help bring back this one of a kind historic gem that is so deserving of a refresh!

Let's make it Happen!

Now YOU can help restore Conneaut Lake Park's historic midway!

Great News!
We just received word from Pepsi that our application to refresh the Midway area in Conneaut lake Park has been accepted!

Park Restoration LLC is working with the Conneaut Lake Park Trustees to pursue the Pepsi Refresh Grant to beautify the Conneaut Lake Park Midway.

Voting for the project begins this Monday 1/3/11 at 6AM and ends at the end of the month.

With the devastation of the Dreamland Ballroom fire, the collapse of the Funhouse (Ultimate trip) building roof, the lack of maintenance and tree root growth, the Midway has become a bit run down...

With a simple vote (EVERY DAY) by you, your friends, family and co-workers we can all make a huge impact on a bright future for Conneaut Lake Park.  If we are successful and get the grant, you can expect to see beautiful planters, refurbished walkways, refreshed building facades and lighting and the reconstruction of the Funhouse (Ultimate trip) building shell....and - if we get the grant - we'll have it ready for a grand Park reopening this Summer Season.

We can't stress how huge of a positive impact this grant would have on Conneaut Lake Park.  You did it with the Blue Streak!  The grant money awarded from Pepsi was instrumental in funding the repairs and reopening of the one of a kind classic coaster; Labor Day weekend 2010.

So please take the time to get your friends, family and co-workers to vote and vote everyday. You will be helping save a Historic Gem that lives in the lives of thousands. Conneaut Lake Park is one of the few remaining traditional family amusement parks.

Go to  www.refresheverything.com/conneautlakeparkmidway    to vote and lets make it happen!

Thank you,
Park Restoration LLC and the Conneaut Lake Park Trustees

The oldest building on the Conneaut Lake Park grounds comes back to "Life".

The once condemned McClure house has been repaired for use in the popular Ghost lake attraction that opened in late September 2010.

The McClure House was due to be torn down and was condemned for use, but luckily due to the lack of funds, the demise of the property was delayed and we were able to save it for immediate use on the Ghost Lake event and for future residential housing or similar use.

The McClure house was built in 1850's and in1897 after the passing of Col. Frank Mantor, it was converted to the Mantor House.  In 1906, it was renamed the  Lakeside Inn upon the addition of the third floor.  In the 1960s the Hotel stopped hosting guests and was converted to en employee dormitory.

Its long history serves well into the Ghost Lake attraction.  We are happy to save a piece of History and look forward to restoring it back to it's old glory.

Remember Geauga LakeSea World, Erieview and West View Park?
A memory is a powerful force that we reflect upon, cherish and use to inform.
Good memories make one wish the days of old were today.
We now have the honor and opportunity to keep our childhood memories alive
for the young and young at heart to enjoy.

We entered into this quest to keep Conneaut Lake Park a family Park for generations to enjoy.
We fully support the restoration of the BLUE STREAK and wish the Lisko's well in their quest.

The BLUE STREAK can ride in 2010 with a simple daily vote from you, your friends and everyone willing to help the cause.
Please vote everyday and tell everyone you know to do the same.
As with the destinations and Parks above, once they are gone, they are gone forever.
Don't let this demise happen to the one of a kind Blue Streak...

The BLUE STREAK project voting count rose from 50 to 16% on the list and needs to get in the top 10% to win the $50,000 for restoration.

Please see below for the voting link and details.
See you at the Park!

Blue Streak Coaster at Conneaut Lake Park in the Running to Compete for $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant

The 2010 Pepsi Refresh Project is a grant program that awards $1,300,000 each month to the projects in each award category that receive the most votes from the public.  The Blue Streak Restoration Project has qualified for the July voting period.  The ten projects in the $50,000 category that have the most votes as of the end of July will each receive the funding.

Go to www.refresheverything.com/conneautlakeparkbluestreak  to register to vote. There is no fee to do so. You can (and should!) vote every day.  The leader board on the website will indicate the ranking of each project. You must be at least 13 years old to vote.

Work has begun and is progressing on the Blue Streak. But, as was explained at the Coaster Convention on June 24, the reconstruction progress is exceeding the funding. Help us earn the votes we need to qualify for the grant byvoting every day, and spreading the word to others.  Let’s get the Blue Streak back on track!

Boardwalk Replacement!

Incase you haven't heard, the boardwalk is currently in the process of being completely rebuilt!

Board by Board is an exciting new campaign that was launched by the Trustees of Conneaut Lake Parkin conjunction with Park Restoration.  Click Here to learn more about the campaign and see how you can be a part of it!

This past weekend, the first 60ft section of the 650 foot Boardwalk was removed (as you can see in the following snapshots).

The plan is to have this section replaced by Memorial Day weekend.

Fun Fact!
Did you know that the original height of Conneaut Lake's waterline was considerably higher at one time?  Years ago, several feet of water were drained from the lake.  In 1936 when the boardwalk was first constructed, they built it at the same level as the original water line!
